PLEASE READ AND ACT
A planning application for the development of Mount Zion Church, Quarrier’s Village, to 12 flats was submitted to Inverclyde Council by The Burrell Company on 10 October 2003.
WRITTEN OBJECTIONS to this application MUST BE submitted to the Council on or before Thursday 13 November 2003.
If you are opposed to the proposed development of the Church then we urge that you send your objection to the Council as soon as possible and before Thursday 13 November.
The granting of planning permission is NOT a certainty. Your objection can help to prevent the granting of planning permission for this development.
The objection must be in writing and can be as short or as long as you desire. You will have your own reasons for objecting to the granting of planning permission. The grounds for objecting are numerous and a few of the more obvious reasons for objecting are:
- loss of a building, which is of extreme historic and special architectural interest, important to the area and valued by the community (local and otherwise);
- loss of Christian heritage ? the Children’s’ Cathedral?;
- loss of active place of worship impact on community and vulnerable residents;
- affect on historic environment, the setting of the Church and the setting of the Village desecration of notion of Conservation village?;
- loss of access to and public enjoyment of Grade B listed building;
- impact on roads, drainage,environment and amenity;
- infrastructure difficulties:
(i) services
(ii) social or community needs.-e.g. schools, recreational facilities
(iii) extensive scale of recent and current housing development within Village;
- car parking for the development is on the playing fields against the graveyard wall, which is contrary to the ?10 year plan? in this plan the playing fields are designated recreational - i.e. not for use as car parking, loss of tree cover;
- nil benefit of proposed development to the community;
